October 2022
Joy in Montenegro as another of our own ChessGuides has earned a prestigious distinction. In a tournament held in Struga, Macedonia, this October, Aleksandar Tomić reached the level of International Master of Chess.
Commenting on his countryman’s achievement, ChessGuides’ FM Armin Mušović: “Malo je reći da je zasluženo Aco. Zaslužio si odavno, samo su se sad poklopile kockice. Čestitam majstore!” [“It’s an understatement to say it’s well-deserved Aco. You deserved it a long time ago, only the dice have fallen. Congratulations, master!”]
The high energy is sustaining through this tournament season, as both Aleksandar and Armin dominated the Memorijal “Obrad Manojlovic” Herceg Novi 2022 tournament held this past week. This tournament featured multiple Grand Masters, the highest distinction in chess, and several IMs. None the less, Aleksandar took 2nd place, and Armin 4th. An amazing achievement as they were expected to finish 3rd & 11th, respectively.
Aleksandar’s only comment: thanks to those who have supported. “Hvala dobri moji ! Hvala puno svima !”
