Why online tutoring?
Parents get the same high-quality mentorship for their children as traditional private tutoring….without the drawbacks! No more driving to tutoring centers, or tutors physically entering your home. Being online allows ChessGuides to keep costs low, savings we pass on to parents.
Why Chess as a tutoring medium?
Chess is a FUN medium for children to play and learn. Chess by nature requires the skills that help us succeed at life: critical thinking, time management, decision making and more. In addition, chess clubs build social skills and provide new friends for children.
How do I access my courses?
Once you sign up as a member, you will have a unique login to our chess portal, provided by ChessCoders.
Can I take more than one course at a time?
Absolutely! Our variable membership structure allows you to take as many courses with different Guides as you wish.
Do I have to attend all my available classes every week?
You do not have to use all your class credits each week. Class attendance is not required. Our membership structure allows us to offer quality private tutoring at a discount price. If you miss a class due to a scheduling conflict we are happy to reschedule you to a better time. We are here for the community.
How does online learning work?
Our classes and events are hosted on our private chess platform. All classes enjoy ChessGuides customized themed lessons plans:
Puzzles and Historical Game Review
Classical and Modern Theory Discussion
Practical Advice
Live chess – basis for personalized coaching
How big are group classes?
Small group classes have a maximum of 24 students. Your classes are kept small by design to allow a personalized experience for each student. Most classes have under 10 students. Club-wide events are naturally not capped at 24 students.
What is “Games with Guides”?
Game with Guides is an exclusive ChessGuides benefit. Our Guides of all skill levels, from beginner to International FIDE Masters, will play chess games with club members, providing LIVE personal analysis and student-focused feedback. Students wishing to play the Guides during a session sign-up in advance. To give equal opportunity, sign-up to play in a 90-minute+ Games with Guides session counts as a weekly class credit; audience to a session is an exclusive free benefit to club members, and does not count as a class credit.
